T2 Biosystems’ Magnetic Resonance Detection

When the molecular or cellular target is in the presence of T2 Biosystems nanoparticle assay, a change in a characteristic signal is produced that can be measured by magnetic resonance detectors.

These detectors, which are based on clinically-proven MRI technology, consist of miniaturized magnets, detection coils, and spectrometers and are specifically tailored to provide a rapid output of the nanoparticle assay result.

While conventional MR instruments require large components and have limited range of  application, T2 Biosystems’ highly miniaturized technology analyzes microliter sample volumes and therefore require much smaller magnets and coils, and less complex electronics, ultimately allowing the technology to be small and portable.
