The T2Dx

T2 Biosystems first diagnostic product, the T2Dx System, consists of a benchtop instrument and a disposable cartridge that is pre-loaded with nanoparticle reagents.

In the T2Dx System, a small sample of a patient’s blood, saliva, urine or other biofluid is loaded onto the cartridge and inserted into the instrument. The sample automatically mixes with the nanoparticle reagents, if needed, waits for the appropriate incubation time and then analyzes the presence of the particular biomarker. The data is presented to the user within minutes for immunoassays and close to one hour for nucleic acid assays and is integrated as appropriate into a lab information system.

The T2Dx system will allow health professionals to make medical decisions almost immediately and its versatility and portability are amenable to a broad range of potential applications across a wide variety of medical applications. T2 Bio’s initial portfolio of products will save lives through the detection of fungal and bacterial infections, and through therapeutic drug monitoring. All of the tests can be run on one instrument in the lab or the clinic to provide new and improved diagnostic data to inform clinical decision-making.
