Roger Smith, Ph.D. joined T2 Biosystems in 2014 and is the Senior Vice President of Science Research and Development. Dr. Smith has over two decades of research experience and has assembled and led cross-functional teams to advance new product development. While at T2 Biosystems Roger led the development of T2Lyme, T2Resistance and T2SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic panels. Prior to joining T2 Biosystems he led a team of biologists at Semprus Biosciences, a subsidiary of Teleflex, in the development of novel microbial resistant surfaces for medical devices. Prior to this he built and led a team of molecular biologists at the Broad Institute for the production of microbial libraries that were used for novel drug discovery. Dr. Smith received his Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Rochester and completed post-doctoral studies at Harvard Medical School. He has authored numerous scientific publications in the fields of microbiology and medical devices and holds several patents.
